Bulletin System
The Bulletin System hardware comprises:
- Bulletin Directors™ (one or more), and a
- Bulletin Manager™
Note that applications are not included with the Bulletin System hardware. A suite of applications that perform messaging-only functions is available as a bundle. Other applications that perform special-purpose functions plus messaging are available a la carte.
A Bulletin Director is one of a scalable family of devices that performs targeted message delivery. It can be located anywhere from a central aggregation router or switch to a hub site, and requires no expensive switches or additional hardware. It associates with a router through a variety of means, including out-of-path options via Capture, SPAN, mirror, or tap ports. Bulletin Directors are stackable for redundancy or balancing. The family of Bulletin Directors supports from 10K to 400K subscribers each, depending on the selected device.
The Bulletin Manager is a sophisticated device that manages the entire population of Bulletin Directors in a region or division. It typically sits in the Network Operations Center, and is administered through any available computer. Its GUI interface provides for all management functions including the scheduling, targeting, and tracking of all messages for up to 3 million subscribers. Its suite of remote APIs permits straightforward integration with back office equipment, XML feeds, and/or FCC-defined EAS data.
